If you took part last year then you will know what great fun, and what a moving event, Girl's Night Out was. From all over the area groups of ladies came, dressed in their best pyjamas, to walk around Bury St Edmunds on a Saturday evening. Over £60,000 was raised to help St Nicholas Hospice Care and a great time was had by everyone who was there.
This year Girl's Night Out 2010 takes place on SATURDAY 18 SEPTEMBER, starting at 8pm from the Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds.
Hundreds of women of all ages will be taking over the town for one night only when they participate in an 11.2-mile walk along the historic streets of the market town. Come on your own, with loads of people to walk with, or come as a group and have a laugh as you go around.
This year we particularly want to get groups of girls from Women's Institutes, offices, shops, factories, churches, schools, sports clubs, pubs - in fact anywhere that a group of ladies gather together - to get involved. The more the merrier!
Registration is open NOW!
Jenny Baskett, Event and Challenges Fundraiser, said she was delighted with the response last year, but called on walkers of all ages and abilities to continue sign up again.
She said: “Last year we had almost 350 women sign up for A Girls Night Out which was amazing.
“But this year we want even more. We want to hear from women across the county and beyond to ensure we have a brilliant number of walkers and create an even better atmosphere than in 2009.
“This is a fantastically fun challenge and a super way to raise thousands of pounds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.”
Last year 70-year-old Hospice volunteer Diana Prentice took part, accompanied on the walk by her 69-year-old teddy bear Snowball. “I love walking so I thought this challenge sounded really interesting. The volunteers and staff on reception all walked together and supported each other.
“There was a nice camaraderie on the night and we really enjoyed it”
Each participant must raise a minimum of £100 through sponsorship with walkers getting a commemorative t-shirt and goody bag and a well-earned bacon roll and hot chocolate at the end of the challenge.
