Volunteers

Volunteers contribute greatly to Hospice life and work in almost every area of the Hospice. Their role in all aspects of the Hospice is very important; last year 415 volunteers gave over 1660 hours of support to the Hospice. As an integral part of the Hospice Team they receive appropriate training, support and development within their roles.

Our team of volunteers are particularly key in helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Day Hospice and In Patient Unit.

We often have vacancies particularly in the evenings and at weekends.

Volunteers are often needed to help with

  • complementary therapy and beauty treatments
  • drivingVolunteer drivers
  • arts & crafts
  • reception and administrative work
  • gardening and flower arranging
  • fundraising and shops
  • catering and help at mealtimes
  • maintenance
  • lottery
  • counselling

With specific training volunteers help with the more challenging aspects of the work of St Nicholas Hospice. We have a small team of Bereavement Volunteers who work with adults and children under the supervision of our Family Support Department.

If you are interested in volunteer work at St Nicholas Hospice - in any way - please do not hesitate to contact us.
