St Nicholas Hospice Care has become one of only five Hospices in the country to be awarded a highly-sought status acknowledging it as a good place to work.
The independent Best Companies awarded the Hospice the prestigious One Star following staff surveys that were carried out at the end of last year.
Having earned a One to Watch title last year, the Hospice has done even better this year having improved significantly in all areas.
Jane Doughty, Personnel Director, who managed the process, said: "Our Star status is testimony to the great teamwork we have seen across the entire Hospice community in what has been a very difficult year.
"The independence of the Best Companies process provided valuable feedback last year and as a result the management team were able to focus on areas for improvement.
"We will be reviewing this year's results in the same way and hope to improve further the working experience for all our staff and volunteers."
Best Companies seeks to recognise excellence in work practices and employer care. The One Star is acknowledged as "first class" in the company's elite accreditation system.
Chief Executive Barbara Gale said: "For a relatively small Hospice in West Suffolk to receive any sort of acknowledgement is amazing, to receive One Star is staggering.
"What we lack in size, we make up for in professionalism and excellence. A first class and heroic effort by everyone, well done."
