St Nicholas Hospice Care is a charity which helps people live with life-threatening and terminal illnesses. This can include cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and the advanced stages of heart and lung disease.
We see around
2,000 patients and their families every year and rely on the dedicated support of over 500 volunteers.
More than 50,000 local people have supported the organisation since its inception 25 years ago.
In order to provide services free of charge to people in the community, we have to raise £4.5million per year. The Government funds less than a quarter of this, leaving the Hospice needing to raise £10,000 per day through the generosity of people in the local community.
St Nicholas Hospice Care provides care and support throughout West Suffolk and Thetford.
We support patients and their families in a variety of ways including our eight-bed Sylvan Ward which offers round-the-clock specialist medical nursing care at the Hospice. We also provide activities and rehabilitation therapies through Orchard Day Therapy while our Community Hospice Team provides care and support for people in their own homes.
We also offer family support and confidential counselling to both adults and young people coping with bereavement and grief.
