In 2008 St Nicholas Hospice is undertaking 2 significant projects, which will improve the services we deliver to patients and their families
- The start of the St Nicholas at Home Service
- The refurbishment of the In Patient Unit.
This is the first of several bulletins that will be keeping you up to date on our plans at the Hospice.
The refurbishment of the ward area will mean that we will be reducing the number of In Patient Beds we have at the Hospice from 12 to 6 beds for a period of approximately 14 weeks from April to July. Our ward area will be located in our Day Hospice and Our Day Hospice will be operating from our Bradbury Green area. During this time we will be increasing the type and amount of support we can give to patients in their own homes and in community hospitals.
The refurbishment bring the ward up to date and improve the facilities for patients and their families. The refurbishment has been made possible by a grant from the Department of Health and some recent generous legacies.
Recruitment for St Nicholas at Home will begin in January. As part of the project we will be gathering a small working group to determine the details. Our team will be working in the community alongside the Primary Healthcare Team to enable patients to be cared for, and die, in their place of choice. The initial focus of St Nicholas at Home will be on the last weeks of life.
News about the refurbishment and the development for St Nicholas at Home will be found regularly here on our website.
