Lottery Terms and Conditions

When signing to join the St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery, players agree to be bound by the terms and conditions below. A hard copy can be obtained by contacting the Lottery Office on 01284 755000 or emailing lottery@stnh.org.uk.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time without prior notice.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery is registered with the Gambling Commission, registration number 000-005004-N-306946-001.

Promoter – St Nicholas Hospice (Suffolk), Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 2QY.

Responsible Person – Caroline Tatum, Lottery Officer.

The Weekly Draw

The draw is carried out every week on a Friday (if this falls on a statutory holiday then on the nearest working day) and is based on a subscription of £1 per entry per week. Any members who have not subscribed in a particular week will not be entered into that draw; however their membership of the Lottery is not automatically cancelled. Subscriptions can be paid by cheque – subject to a minimum of £10. Or you can pay by standing order – £4 every 4 weeks, £13 quarterly and £52 annually (£4.34 per calendar month when paying through monthly payroll deduction, 34p covers the subscription of the 13th Friday) - or cash collection. Cash collections are only available in certain areas and the promoter reserves the right to withdraw this facility at any time.

New members will be sent a unique randomly selected draw number created by approved secure computer software, and a personal membership number for each entry.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery reserves the right not to accept an application for membership of the Lottery without giving reason and at our absolute discretion.

Winning cheques will be sent out automatically within 1 week of the draw taking place with details of the winning numbers being publicised on the Hospice website, displayed at the Hospice, in our St Nicholas Hospice Care charity shops and in the Bury Free Press.

It is the responsibility of the member to notify the Lottery Office of any material changes such as amendments to address. In the event of winning cheques remaining un-cashed due to changes not being notified to the Lottery Office, the promoter reserves the right to return unclaimed prizes to St Nicholas Hospice Care Funds after a period of 6 months.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery cannot accept any responsibility for any loss or delay of any payment or communication sent by post, direct from a bank or building society, fax or email.

Data Protection

Data held by St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery, is held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will not be passed to or sold to any other organisation.

Cancellation of Membership

Membership of the St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery can be cancelled at any time, however instructions received after the close of business on a Thursday may not be actioned until after the weekly draw. Refunds will be given for any un-played subscriptions (if less than £1 refunds will not be made and treated as donations to St Nicholas Hospice Care funds.) Cancellations should be placed in writing to the Lottery Office or via email to lottery@stnh.org.uk. If membership is paid by regular standing order it is the responsibility of the member to also cancel direct with their bank.

Self Exclusion

We are aware that members, for personal reasons, may wish to exclude themselves from playing in the St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery. Requests for self exclusion should be placed in writing to the Lottery Officer. Such exclusions will be held on record for a minimum of six months and re-entry into the draw will be at the discretion of the Lottery Officer.

Age Restrictions

Under the Gambling Act 2005, players in the St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery must be aged 16 or over, it is an offence for any person under the age of 16 to play or to win a prize. In the event that a minor is inadvertently entered into the draw no prize will be awarded and the stake money refunded. By subscribing to the Lottery any player is agreeing to allow the promoter to undertake any appropriate action to establish age verification. This may include credit reference agencies.

Complaints Procedure

Any complaints received by St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery will be handled under the Complaints Procedure, a copy of which is available upon request to the Lottery Office. Any complaint that cannot be resolved under the existing procedure may be passed to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service Ltd (IBAS) for arbitration under an agreement held between St Nicholas Hospice Care, the Lotteries Council and the Hospice Lotteries Association.

Responsible Gambling

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery is a member of the Hospice Lotteries Association and the Lotteries Council. Both these organisations make a contribution to the GREat Foundation, an organisation promoting responsible gambling. Additional support for problem gambling can also be sought from Gamcare and Gambleaware.
