Lottery Terms and Conditions

When signing to join St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery players agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time without prior notice.

St Nicholas Hospice (Suffolk) is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission, under account number 5004.

Terms and Conditions sections

The weekly draw

The draw is carried out weekly on a Friday (if this falls on a statutory holiday then on the nearest working day) and is based on a subscription of £1 per entry per week. Any members who have not subscribed in a particular week will not be entered into that draw; however their membership of the Lottery is not automatically cancelled. Subscriptions can be paid by cheque – subject to a minimum of £10; Direct Debit – £13 quarterly; £26 six monthly and £52 annually or cash collection. Cash collections are only available in certain areas and the promoter reserves the right to withdraw this facility at any time.

New members will be sent a membership number, along with a six-digit Unique Game Number for each chance they request, per week.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery reserves the right not to accept an application for membership of the Lottery without giving reason and at our absolute discretion.

Prizes

Each week there will be 43 guaranteed weekly prizes totalling £1550 and a further £250 which forms part of the rollover. The rollover prize will increase, if not won, by increments of £250 every week to a total of £10,000 at which point it becomes a guaranteed prize.

Winning cheques will be sent out automatically within one week of the draw taking place with details of the winning numbers being publicised on the Hospice website www.stnicholashospicecare.org.uk, displayed at the Hospice, in our St Nicholas Hospice Care shops and in the Bury Free Press.

Winning and taking part

It is the responsibility of the member to notify the Lottery Office of any material changes such as amendments to address. In the event of winning cheques remaining un-cashed due to changes not being notified to the Lottery Office, the promoter reserves the right to return unclaimed prizes to St Nicholas Hospice Care Funds after a period of six months.

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery cannot accept any responsibility for any loss or delay of any payment or communication sent by post, direct from a bank or building society, or email.

Persons not residing in the UK or those without a British bank account, cannot take part in or become a member of the St Nicholas Hospice weekly Lottery.

St Nicholas Hospice Care staff and volunteers can take part in the weekly lottery.

Payment

When paying for your Lottery subscription, neither credit card or CAF cheques are allowed as payment. This is in accordance with both the HMRC and the Gambling Commission.

Data Protection

Data held by St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery, is held in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and will not be passed to or sold to any other organisation.

 

Cancellation of membership

Membership of the St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery can be cancelled at any time, however instructions received after the close of business on a Thursday may not be actioned until after the weekly draw. Refunds will be given for any un-played subscriptions (if less than £1 refunds will not be made and treated as donations to St Nicholas Hospice Care.) Cancellations should be placed in writing to the Lottery Office or via email to lottery@stnh.org.uk.

If we are notified of a member’s death, a refund will be given to that person’s Estate for any un-played subscriptions (if less than £10, refunds will not be made and, if the next of kin wish to continue the membership, these monies will pass with the membership. If no one wishes to continue the membership, the unique number will continue to be entered into the draw until the credit reaches zero and any prizes will be paid into the Estate). If the next of kin wish to continue the membership they will be given further information regarding methods of payment. Any prizes won after the member’s death but before we are notified by the next of kin will be reissued to the Estate.

Self exclusion

We are aware that members, for personal reasons, may wish to exclude themselves from playing in the St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery. Requests for self exclusion should be placed in writing to the Lottery Officer. Such exclusions will be held on record for a minimum of six months and re-entry into the draw will be at the discretion of the Lottery Officer.

Age restriction

We abide by the Gambling Act 2005. We therefore choose to restrict play to those aged 18 or over. In the event that a minor is inadvertently entered into the draw, no prize will be awarded and the stake money refunded. By subscribing to the Lottery any player is agreeing to allow the Hospice to undertake appropriate action to establish age verification. This may include approaching age verification agencies.

Complaints procedure

Any complaints received by St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery will be handled under the Complaints Procedure, a copy of which is available upon request to the Lottery Office. Any complaint that cannot be resolved under the existing procedure may be passed to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service Ltd (IBAS) for arbitration under an agreement held between St Nicholas Hospice Care, the Lotteries Council and the Hospice Lotteries Association.

Responsible gambling

St Nicholas Hospice Care Lottery is a member of the Hospice Lotteries Association and the Lotteries Council. Both these organisations make a contribution to the Responsible Gambling Trust, an organisation promoting responsible gambling.
