Orchard Day Therapy

Orchard Day Therapy offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for patients to access practical help and advice in relation to managing their symptoms and the challenges caused by their illness.

Orchard Day Therapy gives people the opportunity to talk through issues and help them adjust to the changes the illness might have made to their lives. People can work with our Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist to improve mobility and quality of life.

When and where
Day Hospice patientsOrchard Day Therapy is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - from 10.30am to 3.30pm in the Garden Room at the Hospice. Normally patients come for one day a week for a number of weeks. Lunch is provided and we can help to arrange transport.

The Staff
Orchard Day Therapy is led by the nursing team who are supported by trained volunteers. Patients can meet other members of the team for assessment and advice; this might include the Hospice Doctor, Counsellor, Social Worker or Chaplain.

Who comes?
People of all walks of life meet and take part in a variety of activities - including learning relaxation techniques and a range of craft and artwork therapies.

What will happen?
Day Hospice patientsBefore starting at Orchard Day Therapy patients are asked to come with a family member (if possible) for an initial assessment. This helps us to understand their illness and how it is affecting them. Then, together, we plan what they would like to achieve from their time with us.
